How it all started. Growing up next to the river supporting my dad, cousins, and uncles on some of the most popular river races back in South Africa it was only a question of time before the paddling bug would bite. Needless to say in 1996 I picked up a paddle, my dad’s old K1, and have never stopped paddling since. I am not a World or Olympic champion, but I love everything about paddling and the social connections formed on and off the water. Having paddled in many rivers, flatwater and surfski marathons around the world, I love sharing the thrills and experiences of this beloved water sport with anyone willing to listen.

In 2021 during one of the many lockdowns I found myself stuck in and dreaming of  paddling again. A family discussion and some ice-creams later, the idea of bringing some of the best paddling products from around the world and making it directly accessible to the New Zealand paddle sport community was born. And so, Paddle Sport New Zealand was founded. As a family-owned business its our aim to provide you with both cost effective as well as top end products to cater for all levels of experience and budgets.
